Fun with numbers...

Take a look at these stats over 4 games...

CMP% YPA TD INT SACK RAT
57.1 7.51 2 3 1 64.3
60 5.25 0 2 0 34.4
65.2 5.65 0 1 2 61.9
63.6 4 0 3 0 32.2

Now take a look at these stats over 4 games...

CMP% YPA TD INT SACK RAT
64.7 6.82 3 3 0 77.1
50 7.64 1 2 0 61.7
66.7 5.46 0 1 0 69.7
44.8 6.86 1 2 1 50.8

One set is Dennis Dixon's stats in Oregon's 4 regular season losses last year and the other is Nate Longshore's stats in the last 4 Cal games.

Pretty similar... in that both are bad.

So if that progression holds true, next year Nate will be a Heisman trophy candidate leading his team to the BCS championship game. Awesome, maybe this is why Tedford is sticking with Longshore.

Does anyone know if Longshore can hit a curve ball? We got to get him out to a minor league camp this summer like Dixon did if we really want to see a turnaround.

(Answer: The top numbers are Dixon 2006 and the bottom numbers are Longshore 2007.)

But I want RILLEYYYYYYYYYY!!!

Seriously, if next year Longshore plays like Dixon is this year, I'll lead the campaign to retire his number.

Actually, next year does shape up to be a good season. The defense should be better because the young linemen (Jordan, Alualu & Hill)will be a year older, the linebackers will all be experienced seniors.

Longshore will be a senior and most of the offensive line will be back.

Most importantly, the Oregon, UCLA, Washington and Arizona State games will all be in Berkeley.

good point ... especially if in the offseason nate learns how to FAWKING run!

seriously, he should spend the entire off season doing speed and agility work ... he can throw it when he is healthy

of course the OL will have to ensure that he never get hit next year ... all season ... EVER

also maybe he should stop throwing in practice ... obviously he is using up all of his goods on the practice field

or mebbe they should move all home games to the practice field?

We will have some serious deficiencies at WR. All of our starting 3 (assuming jackson goes to the draft) will be gone, and if Nate can't get it done with THAT core, who knows. Who knows if boateng will even be ready. Also Best is shaping up to be an insane rb, but I'm not sure if he's ready to be an every down back. I'm not sure, unless something surprising happens I'm kind of preparing for a rebuilding year.

hahaha i was thinking about this exactly.

but the thing is, dixon has always had mobility. longshore just doesn't. but it's nice to hope!!

I think he's gone color blind. He's throwing the ball to the wrong guys...

Nate will never have Dixon's ability. However, if he works ridiculously hard at building both his physical and mental toughness I think he can still be above average, which is more than enough in Tedford's offense.

All things considered, I hope Riley (or Mansion perhaps) wins the job next year and proves to be even better than Aaron Rodgers...

Go Bears!

thank you for this. needed something to laugh about after the recent slump.... it would be hilarious to see longshore try to run to first base :)

The turn around won't happen. Oregon finished 2006 in style with an absolute beat down by a MWC team in their bowl game but Cal decided to sneak out a win against their MSC opponent. Game over.
